Aukland Fungus Group

The Aukland, New Zealand, Fungus Group is designed to bring together the small group of amateur fungi enthusiasts in the Auckland region who have an interest in both native fungi and photography. It’s also hoped to encourage others to take an interest in local native fungi – though not necessarily as photographic subject – and to assist with their identification and conservation.

Forays are presently been held twice a month and in different locations throughout the wetter parts of the year, autumn through to spring regardless of weather. An incredible addition to this Website is a “fungus of the moment section” on the home page, where fungi will be displayed in their glory (as seen here in the October “Phylum: Basidiomycota; Class: Basidiomycetes; Order: Gomphales; Family: Ramariaceae; Genus: Ramaria; Species: R. samuelsii).

Presently anyone living in the Auckland region may join the group. The only requirement is that you become involved. There are no subscriptions or other cost involved at present other then getting to the forays but you do need to have an e-mail address. Visit the site for more information.
