The Cascade Mycological Society (CMS) is located in Eugene, Oregon. General Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of the month from September through April or May, so they’re just building up steam for the year. Field trips, special walks, talks, and trainings are announced in the membership newsletter, and past copies are available in PDF format online. Generally, they foray on the 3rd Saturday of the month while fungi are appearing. When you think of the Mt. Pisgah Mushroom Show and Fall Festival, think CMS. They also have a “Bridgeoporus nobilissimus RARE FUNGI SURVEY” project in conjunction with the Forest Service. This survey is designed to locate new sites of the rare “noble polypore,” a huge, shaggy conk thought to depend on old-growth forest characteristics. Visit the site for more information about their activities, for recipes, and to participate or simply lurk in their Bulletin Board. Affiliated with NAMA.
