Fungi Perfecti offers a series of intensive, hands-on courses in the art and science of mushroom cultivation. These seminars are conducted personally by Paul Stamets, mycologist, author and founder of Fungi Perfecti, emphasizing a hands-on approach at their gourmet mushroom research station. Upcoming dates for the 2007 seminars include:
Participants learn about tissue culture, spawn generation techniques, substrate preparation, inoculation techniques, and strategies for maximizing yields. Each participant receives 7 select mushroom strains for their own personal use (The cultures alone have a value in excess of $800.00). The cultivation of Shiitake, Oyster, Enokitake, King Stropharia, Reishi, Maitake and many other varieties are covered in detail.
Space is limited and registration is on a first-come basis. Food and lodging are not included (lunch will be provided both days of the Seminar). Required textbooks: Mushroom Cultivator: A Practical Guide to Growing Mushrooms at Home and Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms (not included). Further information will be sent upon registering. Since space is limited, early registration is strongly advised. Registration fee is not refundable. Registration must be reconfirmed via phone two weeks prior to seminar. Three seminars are conducted each year. Paul Stamets is also considering the hosting of a weekday cultivation seminar (exact date will be determined by public response) to accommodate those with obligations that may interfere with their attendance of a weekend seminar. For information on these or future seminars, please stayed tune to Fungi Perfecti’s Seminar page, or contact Fungi Perfecti. Seminar Fee: $700.00
