The Fungus Federation of Santa Cruz (FFSC) is an informal affiliation of “friendly, fun-loving, sometimes frenzied fungophiles” dedicated to the knowledge, pursuit and appreciation of wild mushrooms. They organize many activities during the mushroom season from September through May. Their annual Fungus Fair, held in January, is a popular activity for the whole community. Monthly general meetings feature a wide variety of speakers discussing various aspects of mycology. Local forays present an opportunity to learn more about our local fungi and to meet a varied and interesting group of people, and Beginning/Intermediate and Advanced Classes help round out their field and lab knowledge.
