Mushroom Club of Georgia

The Mushroom Club of Georgia was formed in response to a growing interest in the unusual pastime of wild mushroom hunting. For the past decade or so, Dr. David Porter, a plant biologist at the University of Georgia had been giving presentations throughout the region on the subject of wild mushrooms. As a result of his efforts and enthusiasm, many people began to show an interest in learning more about this neglected sector of our native plants. The purpose of the Mushroom Club of Georgia is to promote the enjoyment, study and exchange of information about wild mushrooms. Everyone who has an interest in wild mushrooms is welcome to become a MCG member. Members are entitled to: The MCG newsletter, free monthly meetings, discounts on MCG sponsored merchandise, free participation in MCG events, and fee discounts for MCG Forays.

This is a young and vital group, so check out their site! They’re affiliated with the North American Mycological Association (NAMA).
