Mushroom Turning Award

I got goosebumps when I saw this award, simply because the work is a stunning example of wood turning. But, can you imagine my amazement when I discovered that this award isn’t given for for eating mushrooms and then turning around in circles until you fall to the ground? No, mon cher, the award is given every year for wood turning excellence no matter the subject at the Adirondack Woodturners Association.

The Mushroom Turning Award Trophy (complete with official embossed certificate) is presented each year to the turner who turns the “Best Turning” in the chosen yearly category and displays the item for judging (and the enjoyment of all) at the February meeting of the Adirondack Woodturners Association (AWA). The winner has his/her name and the year engraved on the brass plaque of the award trophy and on the accompanying official embossed certificate. The winning turner then has the privilege of choosing the category for the next year’s competition. Check it out!
