The white truffle that Jeff Crump purchased for $3,000 in Alba, Italy, almost slipped through his hands en route home to Canada. Airline loses bag that contained the 10-ounce treasure. Read more at The Times-Colonist.
If you want to attend the white truffle dinner provided by LaStrada (Palo Alto and Vittoria in Los Gatos, California) might be cut short. The special menu was suppose to last from 1-16 November, but Sunday the 12th might be the last evening because they are going through truffles faster than expected. Chef Donato is trying to find some additional white truffles, but won’t know until today. Make sure to call in advance to ensure that the truffle menu is still available. The largest white truffle exemplar to be found this fall has weighed in at 1 Kg 200 grams. It was found in the woods at Sant’Agata Feltria (Pesaro) where the national white truffle fair is currently underway. Read more at Wine News.
