LAMS (Los Angeles Mycological Society) will hold their 23rd Annual Wild Mushroom Fair on Saturday and Sunday, 10-11 February. Saturday’s events include two forays to collect specimens for Sunday’s event. It’s been a dry year, so LAMS is asking for as many volunteers as possible for two separate forays. LAMS maintains a separate page for information about time, place, and general safety information necessary for these forays.
On Sunday, bring the kids to Ayres Hall, located in The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden for age-specific activities, and join in on the mushroom cultivation and culinary activities. Don’t miss the presentation on “Wild Mushrooms of Southern California” by Dr. Robert Cummings, Professor of Botany at Santa Barbara City College. Visit the site for more information about Sunday’s events, including a map of the botanical garden area.
