The NAMA (North American Mycological Association) 2007 Orson Miller Memorial Foray at Pipestem State Park, WVA., which is to be held 18-19 August, is anticipated to be fully subscribed. They have invited Hope Miller to attend. Visitors from Scandinavia may also be in attendance. Bill Roody, the guru on West Virginia fungi and the author of West Virginia Fungi and the Central Appalachians, has agreed to serve as Chief Mycologist.
Although there are no cottages available during the foray, should you and your party desire to stay afterward, at present, there are 10 cottages, with either 2 or 3 bedrooms available. They must be rented by the week, at $766 and $878, respectively. NAMA encourages anyone interested in the cottages to act promptly as these are the last available at this time. Members wishing to stay over in their rooms must call the park and reserve personally.
Campground reservations are not reserved until 25 Feb. for written reservations and 15 March by telephone. The Telephone Number for Pipestem is: (304)466-1800.
The most suitable airports are Charleston, WVA or Roanoke Va. Either an hour or an hour and a half from the park. A shuttle has not as yet been decided. NAMA encourages anyone interested in attending this annual foray to atend to this information soon.
Detailed Registration materials will be posted soon at their site.
