Paper Mushrooms

Mushroom OrigamiMany folks integrate their interests rather than keep them separate (like eating chocolate while watching the stock market plummet). One man, Vincent Floderer, has combined his interest in biology with his skills in folding paper. His completed mushroom paper sculptures that were built from a single sheet of paper led to an invitation to provide pieces for the first ever origami exhibition at the Louvre, Paris in 1998. Since then he has gone on to expand on these techniques to create trees with branches and roots from a single sheet of paper.

Floderer made his American debut as one of the featured artists at the 4th Southeast Origami Festival. Since that time, he’s become known as the “master of the crimp” and he has his own Web site where you can view his artistry. Go, and be amazed. It’s healthier for you than chocolate, especially if you overeat.
